Full Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and enjoy a City Tour
After your arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be met by our safari guide who will take you around for a city Tour where you will visit the Genocide Memorial Museum, curio markets and the Kimironko fruits markets where you have a chance to meet the local people and choose your preferred fruit basket. Kigali city tour also includes the old town of Nyamirambo and

Muslim quarter, the new handicraft village and other shops, the Batwa pottery and dance centre and the Gisozi Genocide Memorial. The tour takes a couple of hours and is so interesting. After lunch, connect to Nyungwe Park for dinner and Overnight.Accommodation at Nyungwe Forest Lodge or Nyungwe Top Hill View Hotel or Ibis Hotel or Gisakura Guest House Meal Plan: Full Board; Lunch/Dinner/Breakfast

Day 2: Hiking and Trekking Colobus Trails of Nyungwe
Have an early breakfast, enter Nyungwe forest to track the Nyungwe Colobus monkeys. Have a walk in the forest and learning experience conducted by our knowledgeable tour-guides who are well versed in botany, ornithology and interspecies relationship in Nyungwe forest. Return to your respective lodge for lunch. Relax in late afternoon as and wait for dinner and overnight at the lodge.Accommodation at Nyungwe Forest Lodge or Nyungwe Top Hill View Hotel or Ibis Hotel or Gisakura Guest House Meal Plan: Full Board; Lunch/Dinner/Breakfast

Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking in Nyungwe Forest – Kibuye City
You are expected to wake up a bit early enough, have your breakfast and then enter Nyungwe forest to track the chimpanzees. This will take 1-8hours but if you wish to stay and sight these chimpanzees, that’s ok only that you will find a late lunch at the Lodge. For those who are not interested, will have to return to the lodge for lunch and wait for those who stayed in the forest.

Day 4: Kibuye-Gisenyi-Ruhengeri –Kinigi (PNV)
After early an breakfast, connect to Kinigi (Volcanoes National Park Head quarters) from Kibuye via Gisenyi and Ruhengeri. This is a 6hrs drive (213Km). The drive Kibuye-Gisenyi is via the most beautiful sceneries, providing spectacular views of the tea growing country of Gisovu and Kayove. Brief stops are provided for photography and refreshment. A 4hrs drive will en route to Gisenyi for lunch and a brief city tour. There after drive for 2hrs to Ruhengeri and finally Kinigi; the base of gorilla tracking.

Accommodation: Mountain Gorilla View Lodge or Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge or Kinigi Guest House Meal Plan: Full Board: Full Board; Lunch/Dinner/Breakfast.

Day 5: Full Day Gorillas Tracking Adventure
After an early morning breakfast drive to Kinigi park headquarters for, guide allocation and briefing. This is followed by a drive to the trailheads where hiking and trekking up the hills to the bamboo zone begins. Hiking, trekking and tracking gorillas may take 2-5 hours, depending on their movements. Sight and stay with the mountain Gorillas for 1hour. Descend to your hotel for lunch. In the afternoon, visit the panoramic twin volcanic lakes of Burera and Ruhondo.

Day 6: Final day in Rwanda
After breakfast, trek up to the mountain for another memorable experience with the gorillas. OR Visit Dian Fossey’s grave, OR Climb the volcano Mt Bisoke, which is topped with a beautiful crater lake, all the above activities are suitable for those who are reasonably fit. Return to the base hotel for lunch. In the afternoon drive to Kigali International Airport for your flight back home.

ommonly known as a land of a thousand hills, Rwanda has reinvented itself in recent years as an ecotourism destination. The undulating hills and mountains ever covered by mist every morning form a good scenery – hence the movie “gorillas in the mist”. Mountain gorilla trekking in Volcano National Park is by far Rwanda’s major international attraction. After the release of the feature film, Gorillas in the Mist, about the late Dian Fossey’s pioneering work habituating the gorillas (in order to study their behavior), trekking increased tremendously.

The Volcanoes Park is the best place in the world to track mountain gorillas while Nyungwe offers visitors a good chance of viewing chimpanzees and 400-strong troops of colobus monkeys – the largest arboreal primate troops in Africa today.
