Kenya Birding Safaris
Kenya is known for it’s bird species at least (1080) at comparative ease where so many species can be seen in a relatively short period. Kenya has had a record of most species seen in 24 hours (342 in November 1986) and has scarcely 12 hours of daylight. Kenya holds 1322 different species, which makes one of the seven great bird areas in the world. The open savannah plains, where the majority of the big safaris take place, offer excellent bird watching opportunities for some unusual ground dwellers. The Ground Hornbill, at nearly 110 cm. tall is one of the largest and most visible; the tall Secretary bird is also spotted often. Eagles, vultures, and ostrich, the largest bird on earth, are also spotted frequently.
